Beautiful Mosaic Fish in Tam Thanh Village

hidden town outside of Hoian Ancient Town brings you a new perspective on the beauty of Vietnam, which is Tam Thanh Mural Village. Being considered as Vietnam’s first street art in Korean style, the village has become apopular tourist site in Vietnam since June 2016. Here is the travel guide to the Tam Thanh Mural Village.

Art for a Cause

The mural village is a joint Vietnamese-Korean project called “Art for A Better Community”. Tam Thanh Fishing Village is located in Tam Thanh commune, Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province, which is about 10 km away from the city center. Over 100 actual local houses have turned into more vivid paintings than ever thanks to Korean and Vietnamese artists with local volunteers. We can’t deny that the mural village has been on the top list of most popular sites nearby Hoi An recently. People are interested in the colorful and creative paintings.

Stunning paintings are realistic portraits of local people who are currently living in this fishing village. Each vivid picture shows local residents’ activities in daily life, such as offshore fishing vessels in the early morning, or the image of a mother making a dress for her daughter. The stunning murals also show charming natural sceneries from this fishing village – for instance, the image of coconut trees’ shadow in the river or beached boats at sunset. As a whole, the aim of the project is to depict how daily life and the simple things in everyday life can become an art.

Tam Thanh Village is also the source of inspiration for two other mural villages which are painted by Vietnamese artists. These local artists show their talents to raise public awareness of social issues, particularly environment protection. Tam Thanh mural village not only carries meaningful messages but also creates good conditions for local economic development. A quiet fishing village has been increasingly visited by lots of tourists from everywhere.
